Job Description
We are looking for a permanent member of staff to assist the manager in the general running of our pub.
The bar staff role will primarily be to assist with running the bar, but may require some time spent waiting tables. This is an informal environment where we encourage everyone to have fun and to engage with our customers. We have a strong local customer base and are working to expand this to encourage people in from other areas of the island.
Requirements
Working hours are as most other pubs, either an earlier start and finish or the later shift which can run to 11:30pm on Friday and Saturdays. Currently looking for 32 hours per week but could very easily push up to 40 if/as the business gains ground. Hours are agreed a week in advance with the bar manager with busy periods having two people on duty in the bar and a KP to support the food service.
The pub is open Tuesday to Sunday, everyone should get 2 days a week off other than by exception where we have a bank holiday or other major event.
Benefits
Standard rate is paid at £13/hour. Over time is paid at standard rate or offered as TOIL. We offer 168 hours of paid leave per year and staff meals/drink are free when on shift.
Open hours are as follows, the 32 hours will be made up as a part of these hours:
Tuesday – Thursday :3pm – 9pm
Friday – Saturday : 2pm – 11pm
Sunday : 2pm – 8pm
Normal duties :
- Serving customers
- Maintain stock in fridges/cellar
- Change barrels/kegs/gas
- Assisting with food service if/as required
- Looking after the building – general cleaning to ensure a clean and welcoming environment.
